Yahalom, PhD, Director of Education of the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center delivered the keynote lecture at the United States Army Garrison Walter Reed program for Days of Remembrance. This year’s theme, Justice and Accountability in the Face of Genocide: what have we learned, developed by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, paid tribute to the millions Holocaust victims, and honors the survivors, as well as the rescuers and liberators.
"Educating our students and teachers about the lessons of the Holocaust and their connection to human rights gives our leaders of tomorrow the opportunity to learn from history and to ensure these events are not repeated," Dr. Yahalom said in her speech, which was viewed by 2,500 people, including members of the Armed Forces. "We should use the Holocaust as a point of departure to educate our students to the importance of tolerance, understanding and the dangers of hatred and discrimination.”
