Spreading the word about Holocaust education
Since 1994, more than 2000 teachers have participated in HHREC education programs which provide the knowledge, strategies, and materials to effectively and confidently teach the lessons of the Holocaust.

For every 100 teachers who draw on our resources each year, several thousand children learn the importance of mutual respect and the dangers of indifference.

The Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center (HHREC), formerly known as the Westchester Holocaust Education Center, has expanded its services for educators. -- Are you new to teaching about the Holocaust and human rights issues? -- Do you need advice in selecting lessons or resources? -- Would you like in-service credit for attending our programs and events? HOLOCAUST AND HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION CENTER
SUSAN J. GOLDBERG MEMORIAL TEACHER AWARD

The Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center invites nominations for the second annual Susan J. Goldberg Memorial Teachers Award to recognize a Lower Hudson educator who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in fighting bigotry and hatred through education.

Susan J. Goldberg was a dedicated English teacher at Westlake Middle School (1972 - 2002) and a charter member of the Westchester Holocaust Educators Committee. She was a Mandel Fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (1999) and the recipient of the New York State Education Department Louis E. Yavner Award as Outstanding Holocaust and Human Rights Educator (2000). She also served as President of both the Westchester Council of English Educators and the New York State English Council.
