Valerie Moore O’Keeffe Named Chairperson of Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center

Valerie Moore O’Keeffe, Esq., has been named Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the nonprofit Holocaust and  Human Rights Education Center, which is dedicated to the teaching and learning of the lessons of the Holocaust and the right of all people to be treated with dignity and respect. The Center serves Westchester,  Putnam and Fairfield Counties, and the Lower Hudson Valley. The Center helps schools fulfill the New York State mandate to include the Holocaust and other human rights abuses in curriculum. The commemorative “Garden of Remembrance” in White Plains, dedicated to Holocaust survivors and liberators, is maintained by the Center.
 
O’Keeffe served as Town Supervisor, Town of Mamaroneck from 2000 to 2011, and has previously held a number of countywide and local offices, including President of the Westchester-Putnam Association of Town Supervisors, and President of the Westchester  Municipal Officials Association.
 
As a distinguished volunteer leader,  O’Keeffe has served as Chairperson, Rosalie Hall Inc., Home for Young Mothers; Secretary of Corporation for Manhattanville College; and President of the national Associated Alumnae of the Sacred Heart (AASH). Among her many awards are the Washingtonville Lifetime Achievement Award, “Nuestra Madrina Award” from the Hispanic Women Leaders of Westchester and the Distinguished Alumna Award from Manhattanville College.
 
A resident of Larchmont, O’Keeffe is a graduate of Manhattanville College and George Washington  University Law School.
