IWitness USC Shoah Foundation Teacher Workshop

IWitness is an educational website developed by the USC Shoah Foundation - The Institute for Visual History and Education.  IWitness brings the first-person stories of survivors and witnesses to genocide from the Institute's Visual History Archive to teachers and their students via multimedia-learning activities that address educational standards. By integrating testimony-based education with the development of digital literacy and other 21st-century competencies, IWitness activities encourage critical thinking and self-reflection, and help students get a sense of their own place in the world and of the profound impact their words and actions can have on the lives of others.

The Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center is hosting a teacher workshop, which will be conducted by educational trainers from the USC Shoah Foundation, to introduce area teachers to the IWitness program.  Teachers will examine the importance and meaning of testimony, view the website and complete a sample activity.  There will also be a discussion of next steps in relation to curriculum integration.  The workshop will take place in the New Rochelle High School computer lab.

Space is limited so please RSVP to Julie Scallero at 914.696.0738 or via email at [email protected]
